Maritza Mimi & Manlida DeJesus – At the age of 21 Maritza’ life aspirations was to be a professional dancer, but became pregnant. 32 years ago she had no intentions of being a parent, but gave birth to Manlida a beautiful special needs baby diagnosed with Cri du chat (Cat’s Cry) syndrome. “The Struggle Is Real”, the title of her book talks about the challenges of raising a special needs child, as well as her knowing that her daughter is her angel.
